I cant have tried many new things out this month as it was a real struggle to try and come up with things for this post but here goes….
Favourite foods – Lotus Biscuit Spread
*Warning* this stuff is addictive, approach with caution! Seriously though, I think I have made room for some of this in my macros every day since I bought it as a birthday ‘treat’ for myself earlier in the month! It is basically a
spread of crushed up biscuits. I have been loving it spread on the cinnamon raisin bagel thins, or a teaspoon mixed in to my nightly bowl of porridge.
£2.25 from Tesco
French’s Classic Yellow Mustard Sweet with Brown Sugar
I have absolutely no idea why I bought this when i was in Tescos one day. I have never liked mustard, I have always scraped it off burgers or hot dogs, but for some reason I thought I needed to try it, a
nd I am definitely glad I did! I know some of you may have gasped in horror at the word ‘sugar’ but please don’t, sugar is not the enemy and sugar is not the only reason you put on fat (*unless you are in a calorie surplus then yes it will cause fat gain.) I am always looking for different ways to flavour my food without the excess of calories which some sauces unnecessarily provide. I am a big advocate of seasonings to make food taste good rather than sauces, however you can get some macro-friendly ones. For 10g of this mustard it is only 16calories, 0.4g fat, 2.5g carbs and 0.3g protein; and 10g is plenty. It has a really nice sweetness to it which i have been enjoying with my salads each day! Would definitely recommend you go out and try it if you are a mustard fan or not! £1.59 from Tesco
Favourite clothing item – Forever 21 Sports Bra
I am not a massive fan of the gym leggings from Forever 21, although to be fair I haven’t bought or tried any for a while, but I do get a lot of gym tops and sports bras from there. I like how they are different to ones you can get everywhere else, especially some of the detailing on the backs. They are such great prices too, mostly under £15 which I think is fab for gymwear, and the quality is good too. I bought these two this month as I thought the front of them was super pretty. Wearing nice clothes to the gym always makes me feel like having a better workout for some reason!
Favourite Gym Item – Smartshake XL 800ml
With more sporadic working hours and a couple of weekends away, I have been relying a little bit more on protein shakes this month to hit my daily protein requirements and found myself using the new larger version of the Smartshake. These are great because they have two compartments which twist onto the bottom where you can keep your protein or other daily supplements etc without having to carry them around separately! They are also anti-leak unlike a lot of shaker bottles which you can buy which leave you dribbling like a baby! I think I now have 4 of these in different colours!
Favourite Exercise – Chin Ups
One of my major goals last year was to get to 10 unassisted chin ups, which I did, and I was ecstatic. However, once i achieved them, instead of continuing to practice them I kind of kicked them to the curb a little bit. They are hard, and I would always find myself using the excuse that I would do them next session, or I would do them when I had more energy, basically just didn’t do them regularly for quite a few months. But when writing my new programme i have put them back in and really loving feeling strong again and working back up towards multiple unassisted reps.
When speaking to girls, it is one exercise which they think is unattainable, but it really isn’t! It just takes proper programming, time and consistency and you will get there! (and feel like superwoman in the process!)
Random Favourite – audible.com
I have done a couple of journeys to Manchester these past few weeks and anybody who has done that journey knows how monotonous and long it can be, especially the last stretch between York and Scarborough where I genuinely feel like I am driving towards the end of the world. So rather than spend the whole journey flicking through radio stations and my ipod, I decided to download the audible app and listen to a couple of books, getting my learn on whilst making the journey pass by a lot quicker! I am always trying to progress and learn new things and this is a perfect way to do so, especially if you don’t have time to sit down and open an actual book.
I would highly recommend it for whenever you are in the car, or walking anywhere, download something which you are interested in and immerse yourself in it; it could be a self help book, different ways to progress your business, learning a new language or just one of the Harry Potter books! Even if it’s your 10minute journey to and from work each day; that time soon adds up,;in fact it equates to over 75 hours a year; which you could have using to do something beneficial and enhance your life! There are plenty of codes around online to get your first book for free, so download it and give it a go!
Is there anything in particular you have been loving this month and think that I need to try out?!
Let me know what you think.
